01·about

I'm Leonardo Costa, a full stack developer focused on the backend — Django REST, PostgreSQL and integrations with external APIs and AI.

I was born in São Gonçalo, Rio de Janeiro, and spent a good chunk of my life in Belém, Pará, where my career in tech started. I had my first contact with a computer at age 3 and never really stopped tinkering since.

In 2022 I enrolled at the University of Amazonia for a degree in Systems Analysis and Development. In 2024 I started working as a developer and have been shipping real production systems ever since: AI-powered CRMs, ERPs, receivables platforms and invoice auditing tools.

02·journey

My Journey

I work mostly with Django REST and PostgreSQL. It's the stack I know best and where I solve the bulk of my problems: database modeling, APIs, async processing with Celery and RabbitMQ, caching, external service integrations and AI-driven routines.

On the frontend I've worked with Vue.js and Nuxt.js, and on a few projects also React.js and Next.js. On the ops side I've handled Docker, Podman, PostgreSQL tuning on VMs, CI/CD pipelines and a MySQL-to-PostgreSQL migration.

At FEBRACIS Pará I led the technical work on an AI-powered CRM for managing leads and sales, refactored WhatsApp integrations and mentored juniors through code review. I also gave lectures on service-oriented architecture and Django REST for postgrad classes at UNAMA.

03·values

My Values

A few things I take seriously at work:

  • Code that's actually maintainable: well-named, tested, with decisions written down somewhere.
  • Explained technical decisions: architecture without rationale becomes debt fast.
  • Mentoring and code review: giving and getting it — that's where I learn the most.
  • Production time matters: debugging with real context is what separates a good solution from one that only looks elegant on paper.
  • Honesty about scope: I'd rather say "this will take a while" now than miss a deadline later.
04·what I do

What I Do

Day to day, my work centers on:

  • APIs with Django REST Framework — documented endpoints, pagination, filtering, auth and tests.
  • PostgreSQL modeling and tuning — indexes, heavy queries, VM-level config.
  • Async processing with Celery and RabbitMQ for queues, caching and long-running jobs.
  • Integrations with AI, WhatsApp, payment gateways and external services.
  • Frontend in Vue.js/Nuxt.js or React.js/Next.js, depending on the project's stack.
  • Basic infra: Docker, Podman, CI/CD and VM setup.
